Radio Gdansk News in English: Three migrants found dead | National air carrier LOT | Works of art recovered | Railway traders' fair comes to Gdańsk

Three migrants have been found dead on the border between Belarus and Poland over the weekend.

During recent weeks, Belarus has been accused of waging a hybrid war against Poland by pushing hundreds of illegal migrants over the border in an attempt to destabilise the EU and in retaliation for sanctions placed against it by the EU in response to its human rights violations. On Sunday Polish authorities also rescued a number of migrants who had got into difficulty in a swampy area near a local river. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wrote on his Facebook account that Poland would look into "the possible link between these dramatic events and the provocative actions taking place on our eastern border."

LOT Polish Airlines – the national carrier – has reported it carried more than 340,000 passengers over the summer season, an increase of 20,000 compared to the same period last year.

The company said it operated some 3,000 routes, including between Poland and popular holiday resorts in Italy, Greece, Croatia and Albania. The numbers show signs of a modest recovery in the aviation sector that has been among the hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic. The Polish company also announced that from the beginning of the year until the end of August, it carried around two million passengers.
